Be Part of the Consultation on an IUCN Strategy for Invasive Alien Species

Invasive alien species (IAS) are one of the leading drivers of biodiversity loss and species extinctions worldwide, undermining ecosystems, and impacting human livelihoods and wellbeing, and damaging economies. As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, the urgency to address IAS has never been greater. IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) want to develop a strategy to guide the scaling-up of action on IAS across the Union.

To do this, they need to hear from Members, Commissions, and Secretariat, to find out what you think the priorities should be and how you can contribute.

Take part in the consultation using this online form, available in English, Spanish, and French.

Through this consultation, IUCN seeks input on the necessity, priority actions, and partnerships that are needed for a dedicated strategy on invasive alien species. The feedback gathered will inform how IUCN develops a comprehensive strategy to guide and strengthen collective efforts in this critical area.

Who can participate? All IUCN constituents and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to contribute their insights and experiences.

How to participate? IUCN are soliciting feedback via an online consultation form which can be found here.
Consultation timeline: The consultation will run until the 19th December 2025.

What next? Once the consultation is closed, IUCN will arrange a webinar in early 2026 to present the results of the consultation and initiate an engagement process with interested parties, identified through the consultation, to start the strategy development.
